Alistair Tasker - Chef Profile

Alistair was born and raised in Cumbria but trained locally at Lancaster and Morecambe College where he obtained his diploma in professional cookery. During his time at college he took part in numerous work experience opportunities which enabled him to work with the likes of Albert Roux, Rowley Leigh and Nigel Haworth to name a few.
Alistair's career then started in the Lake District where he worked in a well-known hotel for around 6 years before moving on to Liverpool for his first head chef position at Bar Monaco.
Over the following 2 years Alistair worked for Sodexho where he catered for large high profile events such as Royal Ascot, The Open, Newbury Races and many more.

After gaining experience in banqueting and fine dining it was time to combine the two at his next position as Executive chef at Blundell's Hill golf club in Prescot. During his time there it was Awarded High life new restaurant of the year.

In March 2005 he then moved back to the Lake District where he took up the position of Head chef at The Porthole eating house in Windermere working with renowned chef owner Jason Turner. Alistair maintained the high reputation of the Porthole as one of the best restaurants in the area.

It was January 2008 when he made the move back to where he trained and was appointed head chef at Lancaster House Hotel. Alistair has settled in well and is raising the profile of the newly refurbished Foodworks restaurant with its one rosette accreditation and locally themed décor. Alistair prides himself in using the best local ingredients from within a 40 mile radius. This helped us recently attain the highest award for Taste Lancashire.
