Food and Drink / Food & Drink News / Gino D'Acampo comes to Stonyhurst College
Last year the festival broke all records with visitors enjoying the programme of children's entertainment, chef demonstrations, local producer talks and 80 fine food stands, many offering free samples including cheese, ice cream, chutneys, puddings, chocolate, beer, jams, pastries, breads, oils, liqueurs, olives, traditional soft drinks, fish, hams . . . well you get the idea!
Sue Nelson, the Chief Executive of NW Fine Food, the not-for-profit company that runs the Food Lovers Festivals, is delighted that Gino will be at Stonyhurst; "we had the most fantastic event last year, but this August is going to be even better. Gino is passionate about using superb local produce, and cooking simply to let the taste and flavour shine through. He is keen to come to both days of the event, and spread the word about good Lancashire food."
Gino D'Acampo is one of Britain's most famous celebrity chefs appearing on numerous television programmes including Ready Steady Cook, This Morning, Too Many Cooks, Daily Cooks and his own show for UKTV Food called An Italian in Mexico. He is also working on the new programme Soap Star Super Chefs. Gino is a member of the Federation of Professional Italian Chefs, and has been involved in many exclusive dining events including a Gala Dinner for Pavarotti. He began at catering school in Italy graduating with Masters, and continued to develop his skills at restaurants in Europe, including Perignon in Nice and as Head Chef at Sylvester Stallone's Mambo King in Marbella.
Gino will be joined by one of Lancashire's most celebrated chefs, Nigel Haworth of Northcote Manor and The Three Fishes. With Craig Bancroft his long time business partner, Nigel has just opened The Highwayman Pub in the village of Burrow just south of Kirkby Lonsdale, after a three month renovation. Sue Nelson is thrilled that he is also taking part; "Nigel is really respected in the North West for his devotion to local producers. He has always been a good ambassador of NW Fine Food and I am so pleased he is coming to support us."
Doors open at 11am each day - last entry is at 4pm. The festival is undercover and tickets are on sale in advance at www.nwfinefood.co.uk, or on the door on the day. For further information check the website or ring NW Fine Food on 01695 732734.
