This family-run gastro-pub in a tranquil Lancashire village setting, yet only two miles off the M6. The Mulberry Tree is popular with the locals for its generously-sized, imaginative dishes in a bright, modern setting. Cooking is accomplished modern British with European influences - expect the likes of pan-fried sea bass served with an aubergine and smoked mackerel potato cake, lobster and crayfish bisque, griddled Mediterranean vegetables and garlic-buttered tiger shrimps, or perhaps a fillet of beef teamed with Anna potatoes, creamy mushroom Stroganoff and a red wine and sun-blushed tomato jus.
