A warm, friendly welcome awaits you at 'Oak Lea' the home of Tom & Margaret Mellor. This country house is situated in the heart of the Ribble Valley amidst hundreds of square miles of glorious and peaceful countryside, yet only 15 minutes from the motorway network.

The house is set in extensive mature gardens and has scenic views from all aspects, looking south towards Ribchester and north to Longridge Fell and the Forest of Bowland. 'Oak Lea' can be located on the B6243 approximately 3 miles from Longridge and 6 miles from Clitheroe.

'Oak Lea' is a family home which has been renovated and extended to provide spacious accommodation for all our guests. The house is double-glazed and centrally heated. All rooms have fitted carpets and attractive decor and furnishings. The rooms have en suites with showers or a private bathroom with bath and shower. All have colour TV and tea/coffee- making facilities. Hairdryers are provided and a trouser press and iron are available. There is also a small drying room for wet clothes, walking boots etc and shoe cleaning equipment is provided.

The dining room has two patio doors leading to the conservatory and the garden. During the summer months breakfast may be taken on the patio - weather permitting! We have a breakfast menu ranging from continental to full English breakfast.

There is ample parking space in the grounds and guests are encouraged to enjoy the gardens.

'Oak Lea' is ideally situated for visiting Ribchester's Roman ruins and Roman Museum, Cistercian Abbey ruins at Sawley and Whalley, Clitheroe Castle, Stonyhurst College, Browsholme Hall and the Slaidburn Heritage Centre.

Road Directions

Leave the M6 at jct 31A and follow directions to Longridge, then B6243 signposted to Clitheroe. Oak Lea is near Halls Arms pub at Knowle Green.
Leave the M6 at jct 31 follow directions for A59, leave the A59 at traffic lights signposted Ribchester. After pub - Ribchester Arms turn right into Stoneygate Lane. Turn right at Halls Arms - Oak Lea on the left.
From M6 jct 32 - follow signs to Longridge, then B6243 towards Clitheroe. Oak Lea is on the left near to the Halls Arms.

Public Transport Directions

The nearest Station is Preston/Blackburn or Clitheroe - 10 miles. Taxi or walk to Preston Bus Station. Bus for Longridge/Clitheroe via Knowle Green.
Also Wilpshire station then bus/taxi to Knowle Green.
