Explore a myriad of activities, exhibitions, events and workshops across the area during national months such as Museums and Galleries Month in May and Heritage Open Days in September.


Big Art in BurnleyBig Art in Burnley

Stars of the UK arts scene, Greyworld, have been selected to develop new art works for Burnley as part of Channel 4's Big Art Project and is led by a group of 15 young people from across Burnley.

Channel 4's Big Art Project is a major public art commissioning initiative. Channel 4 received over 1400 nominations from which seven sites were selected across the UK, including Burnley.

The progress of the project is being filmed for a major TV series to be broadcast in 2008. It will offer a candid account of the successes and pitfalls on the journey towards achieving new public art works.

The series will be broadcasted in 2008.

PanopticonsPanopticons

Pennine Lancashire's Panopticons are a unique series of twenty-first century landmarks, designed to attract visitors into the countryside to enjoy the stunning landscapes and wealth of attractions that this delightful area has to offer. Each Panopticon is situated on a high-point site commanding spectacular views.

The Panopticons spread across Pennine Lancashire, from 'Colourfields' in Blackburn, 'Singing Ringing Tree' in Burnley, 'Atom' in Pendle to 'Halo' in Rossendale.


Velocity

A stunning new arts festival, online and all along the coastal rail route around Morecambe Bay.

VELOCITY tackles important issues, from exploring ideas of landscape, movement and environment to asking questions about surveillance society.

But most of all, VELOCITY is fun: a glorious exploration and celebration of the role of technology in our lives,and a chance for participation as well as inspiration.

The Arts festival ran from 11th October - 3rd November 2007.

VELOCITY 2007 is now over, but there's still lots for you to do and see on their website.
