Built to carry trade between Kendal and Preston, Lancaster Canal is now a haven for wildlife. The towpath stretches over 27 miles and is ideal for peaceful countryside walks.
Foulridge Canal cruises has been operating under the present ownership for 23 years on the tranquil countryside section of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal at Foulridge Canal Wharf, 2 miles from the end of the M65 motorway in Colne.
Operating a fleet of boats and canal barges on the Lancaster Canal from a small village called Bilsborrow near Garstang. Our hire boats and hire barges are available for day hire, party hire and holiday hire.
The Leeds and Liverpool Canal was the first of the Trans-Pennine canals to be started and the last to be completed. The length and the complexity of the route meant that the canal took 46 years to build at a cost of five times the original budget.
Lancaster Lune Aqueduct was designed by John Rennie and carries the 20 foot wide canal over the Lune. The aqueduct was restored in 2011-2012, and can now be enjoyed on foot or by canal boat.
