Thornton (together with its neighbouring town of Cleveleys, known as Thornton-Cleveleys) is a town in Wyre, in Lancashire, England, about four miles north of Blackpool and two miles south of Fleetwood.
The two towns are linked by Victoria Road. Thornton was also formerly the principal intermediate stop on the Fleetwood branch of the LMS/British Rail London Midland Region railway, running from Poulton-le-Fylde, but has since closed.
Thornton's most famous resident is Marsh Mill Windmill (Grade II*) built in 1796 and open from Easter to October at weekends. The sails turn from special events throughout the year.
