This year's Pennine Lancashire Festival of Food and Culture was launched to the media on 11 August below a drizzly and windswept Pendle Hill. It had been the intention to launch the event, which starts on 18 August and ends on 18 September, with a formal dinner on top of the hill! But earlier wet weather sadly put paid to that.
Gathered at the launch were mayors and chief executives from the six Lancashire districts that are involved in the Festival, suitably dressed in black and white dinner suits or dresses. There was also an appearance from the Festival's Ambassador, Lancashire cookery expert Phillippa James, who dressed for the occasion as a Pendle Witch.
This year's month-long festival is bursting with food and drink events including the renowned World Gravy Wrestling Championships on Bank Holiday Monday to be held at the Rose & Bowl Inn in Bacup and a Gala Dinner on 9 September at Towneley Hall in Burnley.
