Give Dad a feast of Fylde food this Father's Day is the message from The Ship at Elswick, as it launches its month-long Fylde Food Fiesta.
The most talked about dining pub in the Fylde is celebrating its recent success in gaining the highest level of Taste Lancashire food accreditation by making June the month in which it reinforces is policy of using excellent local produce in dishes featured on both menus and specials board.
Father's Day falls in the middle of this feast of Fylde fine foods and bookings are now being taken for groups of all sizes. Rather than upping the price of meals for this special day, The Ship will be serving its normal menu, packed full of wonderful local and Lancashire produce.
Dishes that celebrate slow, local and farm-fresh food are numerous and include a customer favourite -The Ship Fish Pie, bursting with fresh seasonal fish, prawns and salmon supplied by C&G Neve of Fleetwood.
Diners have an option of locally sourced traditional Bury black pudding with poached egg and hollandaise sauce. Vegetarian dishes and accompaniments for mains are based on a variety of fresh farm vegetables, whilst local cheeses are popular choices. The Ship also buys all of its bread from family-run local bakery Pebbys of Great Eccleston.
For pudding, the Elswick-based eaterie incorporates Bonds of Elswick ice cream in a variety of desserts, ranging from knickerbocker glories to the Ultimate Sharing Sunday treat!
June will see the specials board focusing on creative uses of Lancashire produce. Starters such as Goosnargh crispy duck roll in hoi sin and with sweet chilli sauce, and mains such as honey roast Goosnargh duck served pink with spring onion and potato rosti and seasonal vegetables are already causing tastebuds to tingle.
The Ship's owner Debra Grierson says: "June will see Fylde food getting the acclaim it deserves as we highlight the rich range of excellent local produce available to us in this area. We will not only be laying on a Fylde food feast on Father's Day (June 15), but also ensuring that every day of the month will bring some type of local produce to the customer's attention."
Booking is essential for Father's Day, but groups under six in size need not book at other times. Reservations for Father's Day and larger groups can be made on 01995 672777.
