The Mythic Coastline
Wyre's Mythic Coast Artwork trail brings a magical element to the Cleveleys seafront. Striking sculptures have brought to life The Sea Swallow story - a specially commissioned children's story book that combines local folklore, myth and legend about Wyre's coastline. See the 10 metre high ‘Sea Swallow’ sculpture, discover the Shipwrecks memorial to all the ships lost on the Fylde Coast from 1643 to 2008, delight in the partially submerged ‘Mary's Shell’ on the sands and take a selfie with the ‘Ogre’
Wyre's history and folklore has been brought to life in an illustrated book that will delight children and adults alike. This is a magical tale based on Singleton Thorpe, a village drowned off Cleveleys in the 16th Century, mixed with real life stories from the people of Wyre. Why not walk the Mythic Coastline and see the sculptures along the way! To purchase a copy of the book contact 01253 887445.
