Holmes Mill

The beautifully renovated former textiles mill is pretty hard to miss and is home to the fabulous new showcase and tasting parlour for Bowland Brewery the Beer Hall.

The Beer Hall

The Beer Hall is not just a showcase for Bowland’s beers, it’s a showcase for beers of all kinds, from all parts of the country, continent and the rest of the world too, whether in a cask or keg, a bottle or can, whether dark or light, weak or strong.

To do these great beers justice they needed to build a bar, a great big bar; which is what they did. And then, they made it bigger. They think they now have the longest continuous bar in Britain.

On this great, big bar they have 42 hand pull pumps for cask ales and any number of taps for kegs. And they aim to always have 24 cask ales on the bar. They also have the odd fridge or two behind the bar for those beers in bottles and cans. Then behind the scenes there’s a truly bonkers cellar to keep the whole thing stocked up and running smoothly.

Gelateria

The Gelateria at Holmes Mill is a frosty new addition to the beautiful old textile mill. The luxurious taste of freshly made artisan Gelato is hard to beat! That’s because their Gelato uses only the simplest ingredients: milk, sugar and cream.

All their Gelato is made in house using locally sourced milk. Each week they have 18 different flavours for you to indulge in...most likely including a beer flavour!

Besides luxury gelato they have also created a selection of dairy free Sorbetto, and signature ‘Mill’Shakes.

Cafe

Located in the Boiler House, the Patisserie Café offers the ideal setting for breakfast, a cosy lunch with friends or a quick coffee and cake on the go.

The cafe provides eat-in or take out with a wide range of “Holmes Made” cakes by the in-house bakers. Should you wish to explore the town they are a just a short stroll from the historic Clitheroe Castle and its beautiful grounds.

Cakes and pastries are all made on site daily by their bakers.

Directions

Road Directions

Holmes Mill is located in the heart of Clitheroe, just off the A59 in the beautiful Ribble Valley. The beautifully renovated former textiles mill is pretty hard to miss, but if you do then the locals are usually friendly enough to point you in the right direction.

They're located on Greenacre Street, just down the road from one of James’ other lovely places, The Emporium.

There are currently two entrances into Holmes Mill, the main entrance from Greenacre Street itself and a walkway entrance across from the local Sainsbury’s.
