Lancashire in 50 Objects - A pilgrim's badge

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the formation of the modern county council and museum service the conservation and collection team have curated a selection of 50 Lancashire objects. We will be exploring the history of Lancashire, its people, places and traditions through 50 objects in our collections.

This pilgrim badge was found near Walton Hall, Walton-le-Dale, Preston. It is a rare and beautifully cast silver badge of Saint Ursula's companion, who according to legend was killed in Germany in the 4th century AD.
Read more about the pilgrim badge on our 50 objects website https://www.lancashire.gov.uk/leisure-and-culture/museums/50-objects/

Look out for our #50LancashireObjects posts on @lancsmuseums Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) pages for the latest reveal each week.

Clitheroe Castle Museum is managed by Lancashire County Council's Museum Service on behalf of Ribble Valley Borough Council.
