National Festival of Making 2025

TThe National Festival of Making is a free festival for all to enjoy, taking place in over 20 venues and public spaces across Blackburn town centre over one incredible weekend.

Expect to find creative workshops and live street performances for all ages, remarkable exhibitions, talks, film screenings, delicious food from local artisan producers, makers markets, and much more.

There is something for everyone in the line-up of drop in and bookable making workshops.  Try your hand at a range of activities across multiple disciplines.  Explore the crossover between art and industry through a series of exhibitions from art in manufacturing.  Experience works by a portfolio of national artists, following their collaborations with leading industry manufacturers in Lancashire.  Wind your way through markets championing local and independent makers.  Sample the very best art, craft, fashion and food from carefully curated selection of master makers. 

All this plus live street music and performances, cinema screenings, talks, tours, DJs and lots more.

Road Directions

Blackburn can be reached by the M65 via the M6 or M61. If you are travelling from Preston, Blackburn can be reached on the A677, from Bolton on the A666 and from Chorley on the A674.

 Blackburn is easy to access from the A59 or M65 motorway. There are a range of car parks within the town centre.

Public Transport Directions

Within 5 minutes walk of the rail and bus station. There are good public transport links to all surrounding towns abd cities.
