A celebration of the landscapes, history and people of Lancashire.
Founded in 1946, Blackburn Artist's Society celebrated their 75th Anniversary in in 2021. Since 2021, Blackburn Artist's Society have gone from strength to strength and has grown into an incredible example of an artistic society and have continued to nurture the creativity of their community. Blackburn Artist's accept all members from professional, to those with an interest in art, or even total beginners who want to find a new hobby or spend some time with a like-minded group of friends. The society's emphasis is on fun and friendship, eating homemade cake and enjoying a brew while producing some interesting and sometimes incredibly good artwork.
They have spent much of 2022 meeting at iconic venues across Lancashire including industrial venues such as Queen Street Mill, Helmshore Mills and the Weavers Triangle. They've also visited historic houses (Towneley Hall, Hoghton Tower, Turton Tower, Salmesbury Hall and Smithills), small breweries and distilleries, vehicle museums and model villages, plant nurseries, Theatres, and historic churches. And have had the opportunity to visit some of Lancashire's beautiful gardens, beaches and landscapes.
Their exhibit at Queen Street Mill, Tales of Lancashire, is a celebration of all these wonderful places, curated in partnership with Queen Street Mill. The talented members of the society have brought to life the landscapes, history and people that make Lancashire great. From sketches, to paintings, this exhibit is an inspiring showcase of everything there is to love about our county.
