In the early hours of Sunday, September 23rd 1973, a new Northern Soul All-Nighter was launched in Wigan, Lancashire. Around 600 souls attended that first night, none of us knowing that we were creating history. Over the following eight years through to December 6th 1981 the weekly events in this North West mining town became world-famous, putting Northern Soul firmly on the UK's music map and in the process sending several Casino classic 45s into the national pop charts.
On Saturday, September 23rd 2023, it will be exactly fifty years since Wigan Casino opened her doors, and in that time has touched the lives of hundreds of thousands of Northern Soul fans. Winter Gardens are proud to be celebrating the golden anniversary of these amazing sessions with the unique Wigan Casino 50th Anniversary Weekender over three days. Lined up are many of the original DJs to appear at the weekender, those from both Wigan Casino and its sister venue, the much loved 'oldies' room, Mr. M's.

It's been a pleasure to reconnect with so many of the original DJs from both the Casino and Mr.M's and to bring everyone back together again for what promises to be a very special, emotional 3-day event.'
