The Harris library and the Harris shop have temporarily moved to the Guild Hall, Preston as refurbishment work is carried out.
You can return books, find your favourite reads, and book computer sessions in the I.T Room.
Known affectionately as The Harris, this attraction is loved for its beautiful spaces, fun experiences and intriguing stories. Stories that shine a light on the people who have settled, lived and worked in Lancashire and Preston, locally and from around the world. The Harris Your Place project will bring the Harris into the 21st century whilst preserving its unique history.

Leave M6, jct 31 to Preston. Follow signs to city centre, park in bus station car park. From car park follow signs to city centre and Guild Hall. Walk through Guild Hall shopping arcade. At the exit on Lancaster Road you will see the rear of the Harris building opposite you and to the left.
From Preston train station, leave by ticket office exit and walk up concourse. Turn right onto Fishergate and carry straight on until you reach Boots. Turn left onto Market Square and the Harris is on your right. Approx 10min walk . By bus, alight at Preston Bus station and follow signs to city centre/Guild Hall. From Guild Hall see road directions above.
