46 reviews1920 Textile Mill Cross-Compound Steam Engine with rope drive to a countershaft and powered by a hand-fired Cornish Boiler. Bancroft Mill demonstrate weaving tea towels on a Lancashire loom. The towels are on sale in the souvenir shop along with the latest Bancroft Mill DVD (in version 7.01) that runs for over 40 minutes.
On steaming days the engine runs between 11.00 and 3.45 p.m. The site is available for viewing from 11.00am. A further engine rescued from a mill at Bradley near Skipton has now been rebuilt and also is also running under steam.
There is normally ample free parking and the site is 95% accessible. Refreshments are available from 1.00pm on steaming days.
The Museum is open on Saturdays from 11.00 until 4.30pm, when usually, the engines will not be running and maintenance work may be in progress. Some areas may be closed to visitors for a while. Entry on Saturday is £5 per adult and free for children under 14.
Steaming Day entry: £6.00 adult/£5.00 child & concession/£15.00 family ticket. Under 6 years free.
