Grateful Fred's have been pioneering Americana and Roots music in Formby, Southport and Liverpool since 2010 and during that time have presented some of the best US, Canadian and world artists.
On the first Wednesday of every month, join the Fredhead's at The Atkinson for a wonderful night of live acoustic music.
The club night:
19:30 The Silver Freds.
20:00 Oisin Hassan.
20:40 interval.
21:00 Katie Nicholas.
Katie Nicholas is an independent female producer, videographer and singer-songwriter from Liverpool with firm roots in country, folk and Americana. With a loyal community that has steadily been building, performing sold out shows at various theatres, galleries, museums, including her first headline show at the Liverpool Philharmonic accompanied by strings, her work has been recognised by the likes of Whispering Bob Harris (featuring on his Nashville Showcase Stage at AmericanaFest 2018) as well as various BBC Radio sessions and airplay. In 2024 Katie embarked on her 50-song video series, the Songwriter Diaries where she explores ten plus years of unreleased material which never saw the light of day due to industry setbacks and personal circumstances. The project explores seven eras showing her development as an independent artist who has struggled to get her work out into the world.
'Powerful Vulnerability', BBC Radio Scotland's Travelling Folk Show.
Supporting Katie will be Oisin Hassan. Earlier in 2024 Oisin performed at the Grateful Fred Bijou Sessions and they were so impressed they asked him to play at the Grateful Fred Atkinson series. Oisín is a singer/songwriter from Liverpool with influences drawing from Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan and Cat Stevens to Nick Drake and John Martyn. Oisín crafts songs with a profoundly classic, honest and rootsy feel. Oisín recorded at Metropolis Studios in London in 2022 with established producer Alex Robinson, who has produced music for Elton John, The Cure, Sam Fender among many others. The Liverpool songwriter has had numerous plays across local radio, such as BBC Introducing and BBC Radio Merseyside and has opened up shows for other bands and artists over the years such as Simon Fowler and Oscar Harrison (Ocean Colour Scene), Xander & The Peace Pirates and shared the stage with local legends such as Paul Molloy (The Coral and The Zutons).
Opening the evening will be The Silver Freds.
