Get ready for the return of the brilliant and popular Painting Padiham 2025 on Saturday, 17th May! This exciting event invites artists, both professional and amateur, to compete for cash prizes by creating an original piece of art that captures the essence of Padiham, it's heritage, landscape and community, all within one day.
Artists are free to use any style or medium (except photography) as they create a scene from within a 1-mile radius of Padiham Town Hall. Locations include the stunning grounds of the National Trust Gawthorpe Hall, including inside local buildings and businesses (with permission), and other picturesque spots around the town.
On the day of the event, participants will register at the Event Hub in Padiham Town Hall, where they will receive a blank canvas before heading out to their chosen location to begin their artwork. The completed pieces will be submitted at the end of the day and judged over the following week. The event will offer three main cash prizes, along with a People's Choice Award, decided via social media voting. Winners will be announced on Saturday, 24th May, at the Picture House Gallery, followed by a three-week exhibition of all the artists' submitted works.
Visitor Guides, including detailed maps of the event, will be available, allowing visitors to follow the artists' progress and witness the creation of live art in various locations around town. Each artist will be assigned a number, and their bio will be displayed, making it easy for attendees to connect and learn more about the people taking part.
In addition to the artists' trail, there will be a variety of FREE family-friendly activities throughout the town centre, including paint & craft workshops, and face painting for children. Visitors will also have the chance to explore Padiham's fantastic selection of shops and award-winning eateries. To top it off, hop on the free Vintage Bus for a scenic tour to Gawthorpe Hall, where admission will be free to all visitors.
Don't miss this incredible opportunity to enjoy local art, explore Padiham, and engage with the community—mark your calendars for Painting Padiham 2025!
This event is organised by the Picture House Gallery, Burnley Borough Council and Padiham Town Council.
