Preston City Mela is back for an exciting 2025. This long standing, vibrant celebration of arts, music, dance, culture and heritage is back to give you a touch of South Asia in its 28th year.
It is a great time to bring families and communities together, for highlighting local talent, and offering something for everyone. The word Mela means a fair, which traditionally would bring the community together, exactly what this event achieves. Everyone is invited and welcome to participate in this fun and free event, with a variety of stalls, food, and workshops to get stuck into.
The Mela consists of a one-day festival celebrating South Asian culture, drawing crowds of up to 8,000 people, with a variety of performance artists, workshops and catering that all help to celebrate the story of south Asian communities. In addition, Mela has several projects that consist of tutoring, coaching and training in South Asian arts.
The Preston City Mela Community Interest Company [Not for Profit] run events that seeks to bring communities together and celebrate South Asian Culture in the north west of England. Its values are deeply rooted in preserving and promoting South Asian arts in all forms and cultural heritage.
