Thousands of visitors are expected to attend the Midland Hotel’s 2019 Seafood Festival on Morecambe’s waterfront on the weekend of 5-7 July.
The event, organised by English Lakes Hotels Resorts & Venues, has been rapidly growing since 2016, with over 5,000 people taking part in the last two years.
This year’s Seafood Festival programme sees the addition of a free to attend Craft Beer, Ale & Cider night on Friday 5 July. The centrepiece of Saturday’s celebrations will be a ticketed Surf & Turf evening BBQ, whilst the Sunday’s Seafood & Farmers Market will be the hotel’s biggest to date.
Mark Needham from English Lakes Hotels Resorts & Venues, the general manager of the Midland Hotel, explains: “Once again, we’ve cast our net as wide as possible to invite the highest quality seafood producers and feature wonderful fare from the seas around Britain. That has included a team trip to Fleetwood fish auction with our supplier My Fish to source local produce for the weekend.
“We’ll be kicking off this year’s festival with a Friday evening of great beers, ales and ciders from 7pm. Saturday’s Surf & Turf BBQ will be a relaxed summer soiree featuring a range of the finest local seafood treats, local meats, drinks and live entertainment.
“The Seafood & Farmers Market on the Sunday will include more stalls than ever before as well as a gin masterclass, cake and seafood demo’s, a Pimms & Cream Tea Bar, a Laurent Perrier Champagne & Oyster Bar, an Artisan Gin Bar, craft beers, and live entertainment by The Steven Wren Quartet. We’re looking forward to a fantastic celebration of fine seafood throughout the weekend.”
The Friday night’s Craft Beer, Ale & Cider night is free to attend, as is the Seafood & Farmers Market on the Sunday. Tickets for the Saturday night Surf & Turf evening BBQ event are £20 per person and can be purchased by calling the Midland Hotel’s events team on 01524 428 370.
