WWT Martin Mere Wetland Centre welcomed some special guests this past week – Richie, Adam and Mwaka from one of BBC’s flagship children’s TV programmes - Blue Peter.

The Blue Peter studio is getting renovated, which gave them a perfect excuse to do an episode at an external location and where better than Martin Mere – they only do two outdoor broadcasts a year! The episode features how wetlands store carbon, an otter feed, the shelduck ringing project and making bird feeders out of a carton and half an orange!

Marketing Manager Victoria Fellowes said: “Blue Peter attracts 1 million young viewers three times a week and this has been the perfect opportunity to engage with children about the importance of wetlands and their species, on a programme they know and love.   It’s great that we have been able to showcase the centre on Blue Peter, especially with May Half Term starting this week.  Thank you to all the crew that came along, and we hope you will enjoy watching the episode, spotting your favourite places at Martin Mere.”

The episode, to be aired on Thursday 27 March at 5pm on CBBC.
