TV broadcaster and actress Nicola Thorp is fronting a new campaign to promote the relaunch of tourism in her home town of Blackpool.
Nicola, whose family own a rock factory in the resort, is the voice of a new “Blackpool’s Back” radio campaign that will run over the next few weeks to attract more footfall into the town centre and encourage people to plan summer staycations.
The actress appeared in almost 100 episodes of Coronation Street and is now a regular contributor to ITV’s This Morning show.
The Blackpool’s Back Tourism Recovery Campaign, which is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund, will run across the Bauer radio network in the north of England, and will be delivered in association with VisitBlackpool and the Blackpool Town Centre BID.
It also includes outdoor posters and video content and will run during July in the run-up to the start of the English school holidays.
Nicola said: “As a proud Sangrownun’, I’m delighted to be supporting the Blackpool’s Back campaign. As the country sees a revival of the staycation, it’s time for the UK to enjoy everything Blackpool has to offer”
A VisitBlackpool spokesperson said: “We are delighted that Nicola is helping promote the reopening of the town centre and our tourism and hospitality industry.
Ryan Skyrme on behalf of Blackpool BID said:
“She is a fantastic ambassador for her home town and we can’t think of anyone better to get the message across that Blackpool is truly back!”
