National Fitness Day is on September 22nd, but we are not just making a day of it – we have organised a whole week of activities and free sessions.
Between 5pm and 6.30pm on National Fitness Day itself, there will be a Family Fun Mini Olympics at Seedhill Athletics and Fitness Centre, Nelson, with egg and spoon and sack races and sprinting, javelin, long jump and football kicking competitions.
There will be prizes to be won and everyone who takes part will be entered into a prize draw and given a half-price family swim voucher to use at any of Pendle Leisure Trust’s pools.
There will be a Bootcamp at Pendle Leisure Centre every morning – 6.15am – 7.15am - Monday, September 20th – Friday, September 24th.
On Saturday, September 25th, there’s a free outdoor Zumba class with Sharon Jones at Seedhill Athletics and Fitness Centre, Nelson, 9.30am – 10.30am – and we want as many people as possible to join us!
There will be free gym sessions at Pendle Wavelengths, Pendle Leisure Centre, West Craven Sports Centre and Seedhill Athletics and Fitness Centre, Monday, September 20th – Friday, September 24th, 1pm – 2pm (excluding Seedhill) and 8pm until closing.
There is no limit to the amount of times people can attend the free sessions and everyone who does will be entered into a prize draw – so the more sessions you take part in, the more chances you have of winning!
There will be free, come-and-try sessions at The Feelgood Factory at Pendle Leisure Centre in Colne, Monday, September 20th – Friday, September 24th, between 5pm and 7.30pm. Everyone who takes part in a session will be entered into a prize draw and also receive a discount voucher for a Spa Wellness Experience at Inside Spa, Nelson.
The Trust’s Health and Fitness Manager, Luke Allwood, said: “National Fitness Day is a chance for us to highlight the role physical activity plays in our lives, and we want to use this day to raise awareness of its importance in helping us lead healthier lifestyles through being physically active.
“We have organised a week of events and wanted to provide something for everyone – activities the whole family can get involved in - and we are hoping as many of our regular customers – as well as new ones – will come along and join us!”
