Visit Lancashire for The King's Coronation celebrations

The Big Lunch is an act of celebration and friendship, communities are encouraged to share lunch together in their streets, parks, gardens and community spaces.

After the success of The Platinum Jubilee celebrations, Lancashire is pleased to once again be hosting several Big Lunch events for the upcoming King’s Coronation weekend.

We’ve put together a list of some of the events taking place across the county however if you are a Lancashire local, why not check out you local council’s website to see if they are hosting a lunch closer to home.

The King’s Coronation Big Street Party

Darwen Town Council invites you to come along and celebrate King Charles III Coronation with some free family fun on Darwen Market Square. Immersive theatre, stilt walkers, magic shows and a throne fit for a king! Dress up and bring your crowns with a prize for the best dressed on the day.

Save the date and help Morecambe break the record for the UK's longest Coronation Big Lunch. Following the success of the record-breaking Jubilee street party, an even bigger and better event to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III.

Morecambe Town Council will mark the special occasion with a spectacular Coronation Carnival on May 7.  The promenade will once again be lined with tables ready for locals and visitors to come together and enjoy a celebration lunch for the King. Aiming to beat the record set at the Jubilee celebration, the tables will this time stretch all the way from The Battery to Morecambe Town Hall, and revellers can enjoy a parade of performers while they enjoy their lunch.

Preston’s Coronation Big Lunch

Avenham Park

Preston is known for having one of the largest and best supported big lunch events in the country. This year’s coronation event will once again return to the picturesque surroundings of Avenham Park.

A temporary band stand will be set up in the park featuring performances from Leyland Brass Band, vintage singer Hattie Bee, Preston Caribbean Carnival, Preston City Mela & One Voice Community. The event will also host a selection of local food vendors, charity organisations and family themed fairground.

Preston’s Mayor will also be holding a best dressed street competition for those people who are organising an event closer to home.

King Charles III Coronation Event

The Ashcroft

Whitworth Town Council along with The Ashcroft are planning a huge celebration of King Charles III’s Coronation with a fun filled FREE family event on Sunday 7th May 2023.

The event will begin at 12 noon in The Ashcroft carpark. The live music line-up will include Pub Lunch, The Jackson Kay Band, Harriet Williams and Lareena Mitchell.

From 12 until 4pm, the car park of The Ashcroft will be cordoned off. Lancashire Hospitality Co-Operation will be providing hot food in their Bombay Brew Kebab Truck together with Wood Fired Pizza and the Ashcroft bar will be open for refreshments.

There will be inflatables rides and delicious ice creams! There will also be an Arts and Craft Fair indoors, featuring a variety of artisan stalls in the Ashcroft main hall and children’s activities and crafts.
