Celebrate Valentine's with friends in Lancashire

The season of love is upon us, romance and affection are filling the air, and while Valentine’s Day is a traditional celebration for couples, many choose to celebrate the day with their friends instead.

There is so much to do in Lancashire that can be enjoyed with friends this February, get something booked in and create some last memories you can cherish forever.  

Here are a few of the many things to do in Lancashire to get you started. 

Gin tasting or workshop at Wild Fox Distillery 

What better way to enjoy your day with friends than with some delicious Lancashire gin at Wild Fox Distillery, just outside of Preston. 

The distillery offers a laid-back tasting experience, where the friendly team talks you through their range of gins and provides sample with your mixer of choice. Alternatively, you can enrol onto their 3-hour Thursday Gin School; learning about the world of Gin and creating your very own tipple to take home.  

Add flavour to your gin using botanicals from the farm and around the world, whilst you learn about the distilling process from start to finish, and you’ll even choose the name and design a label for your creation.  

Gin school and tasting experiences are also available at Goosnargh Gin, which now includes an online version, Sandgrown Spirits and Brindle Distillery.  

Enjoy delicious dining or get hands on in the kitchen 

Tapas is a great option for dining with friends, choose lots of delicious plates and have fun sharing and trying new things. Head to Fino Tapas in Preston, situated above the popular Plau bar, and enjoy sharing plates and tastes with your friends.  

For something a little more hands-on, you and your friends can take part in one of the cookery schools across the county. Learn to cook some amazing fresh Chinese dishes at Flavours Cookery school at their Chinese New Year event just before Valentines Day or maybe you’d prefer to create beautiful prepared Italian food with La Locanda in Gisburn.  

For something extra special, save the date for later in the year and book a whole day of cooking with chefs from Northcote Cookery School, which also includes a delicious lunch in the Michelin Starred restaurant.  

Alpaca walks and animal experiences  

Do your friends love to get up close to furry friends? Then why not head to Alpaca Fold and take part in one of their alpaca walking experiences? During the experience you’ll get to know the alpaca’s quirky ways and individual personalities, enjoy an informative talk and get to feed them their favourite treats too!  

Alternatively head to Blackpool Zoo to visit their huge array of animals from all over the world. Book onto one of their animal experiences to really get to know the creatures in the enclosures. How about heading under the sea with a visit to SEA LIFE Blackpool? Walk through the shark tunnel to experience the wonders of underwater life without getting wet. 

Fuel your competitive streak  

Think you know bowling, think again! From fantastic traditional bowling alleys like Soul Bowl in Morecambe and Escape Entertainment in Chorley to alleys like Flower Bowl in Garstang and Level Preston where you can book private lanes and dining alongside games, Lancashire’s bowling scene goes the extra mile. And for something a little more unusual head to Holmes Mill and give Duck Pin Bowling a try! This is bowling on a smaller scale, with a smaller lane, skittles and a more nail friendly balls and no need to change your shoes. 

Level also has laser tag, shuffleboard and more, to battle out amongst friends, and both Escape Entertainment and The Flower Bowl have mini golf for you to enjoy. For something magical head to The Hole in Wand Blackpool for a game of wizard themed mini golf and celebrate with a potion at the end!
