Have you always loved Dolly?
For the first time ever, experience all of Country Music legend Dolly Parton’s biggest and best hits in the rollicking and joyous new musical comedy HERE YOU COME AGAIN at Blackpool Grand Theatre from Tuesday 26 November to Saturday 30 November.
This lively and touching new musical is packed with the all of the delightful diva’s unforgettable songs, including Jolene, 9 to 5, Islands in the Stream, I Will Always Love You, Here You Come Again and many more, to tell the story of a diehard Dolly Parton fan whose fantasy version of the international icon gets him through some very trying times. With her quick wit, cheeky humour and sparkling charm, Dolly teaches him a whole lot about life, love and how to pull yourself up by your bootstraps…even if your bootstraps don’t have rhinestones!
"If you see someone without a smile today, give 'em yours" – Dolly Parton.
Here You Come Again was originally written by two-time Emmy award-winning comedy and songwriter Bruce Vilanch with Gabriel Barre (who also directs) and the incredible Tricia Paoluccio (who also plays Dolly). After several smash-hit productions across the United States, this fantastic feelgood musical has now been adapted for the UK by acclaimed British playwright Jonathan Harvey (Gimme, Gimme, Gimme and Coronation Street).
PROUDLY PRESENTED BY ARRANGEMENT WITH DOLLY PARTON PRIOR TO THE WEST END!
From her humble beginnings in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee to becoming a global icon, Dolly Parton has captured the hearts of millions with her soulful voice, witty lyrics, and unapologetic authenticity. From singing barefoot on the front porch of her mountain home to commanding the stage in six-inch heels, Dolly Parton is a larger-than-life living legend with a heart as big as her dreams. But what do you really know about her?
- Dolly’s blonde hair is as iconic as her voice but did you know she has 300 wigs? When asked how many at a red carpet event she once said: "Well, I wear one about every day, so I must have at least 365."
- Dolly wrote her two most famous hits I Will Always Love You and Jolene at the same time!
- Dolly sleeps in her makeup as she wants to be camera ready at all times. She does take her makeup off, just in the mornings (only to reapply it soon after).
- Dolly holds ten Guinness World Records ranging from Most Decades With a Top 20 Hit on the US Hot Country Songs Chart, to Most Hits on US Hot Country Songs Chart By a Female Artist, and Most Grammy Nominations for a Country Female Artist!
- Dolly was born in Pittman Center, Tennessee, in 1946, and her father was a sharecropper. The fourth of 12 children to a low-income family, it’s said her parents paid the doctor who delivered her not with money, but with a bag of cornmeal.
- Dolly is an honorary godmother to pop superstar Miley Cyrus.
- Through her Dollywood Foundation, Dolly created Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in 1995. Once a month, every month, Imagination Library mails a book to children from birth until they enter kindergarten. In February 2018, Dolly was honored by the Library of Congress on account of the foundation mailing their 100 millionth book – which was her own children’s book Coat of Many Colors. She started her foundation as a way to honor her father who could not read, nor could he write. Before he passed away, he told Dolly he was more proud of her for Imagination Library than anything else she had ever done.
- Dolly is one of the most-honored music artists of all time with 26 songs reaching Number 1 on the Billboard Country charts – the most of any female artist – and 110 charted singles over the past 40 years. She’s had 42 Top 10 Country albums - a record for ANY artist - With 25 of them certified as Gold, Platinum, or Multiplatinum. Wow!
