A Celine Dion tribute act heading to Burnley has proved so convincing she was asked to ‘ghost vocalise’ for the worldwide star known as the ‘Queen of Power Ballads’.

The act in question is Alexandra Darby, billed as the UK’s top touring Celine Dion tribute artist, who is bringing her ‘Celine - My Heart Goes On’ production to the town’s Mechanics Theatre.

Such is Alexandra’s vocal power, Sony Records asked her to provide ‘ghost vocals’ on a dance mash-up of Celine's ‘I'm Alive’ and The Whispers’ ‘And the Beat Goes On’.

Alexandra explains: “Initially, I believe it was uncertain whether it would be possible to use Celine Dion's impeccable vocals on the recording. So, I was asked to come into the Sony studios for a day to lend my own vocals to the recording.

“It was a real honour to be the second-best choice to the original artist! I like to think that I acquitted myself well, but the official recording deservedly features the Queen of Power Ballads' original vocals, and it looks set for chart success.”

The dance track has now been released by Majestic and The Jammin’ Kid and is officially titled ‘Set My Heart on Fire (I'm Alive & And the Beat Goes On)’ and is receiving some good reviews.

Meanwhile, Alexandra’s tribute to the Canadian superstar features exact replica outfits and includes all of the iconic Celine hits such as 'Think Twice', 'Because You Loved Me' , 'I'm Alive' and, of course, 'My Heart Will Go On'.

The hit-packed show is following up on its sold-out 2023 UK and European tour with a brand-new production, the original of which took to the road to celebrate 30 years of Celine Dion hits.

The very first hit, The Power of Love, was released in January 1993 and reached the top five in the UK singles charts, becoming her signature song and going on to earn a gold disc.

She followed that up with her first UK number one, Think Twice, which went platinum and announced the singer’s hit-laden career.

‘Celine - My Heart Goes On’ is coming to Burnley Mechanics Theatre on Friday September 13th for one night only.
