Whether you are a huge sporting fan or just like watching it for fun there's so many places in Lancashire which make it easy for you to try something new this summer. Even better, some locations are free and require no equipment, making it a great budget friendly day out.

1. The Anderton Centre
Set across four acres of woodland with exclusive use of Lower Rivington Reservoir, The Anderton centre offers the largest expanse of water between the Midlands and Cumbria and is often referred to as the lake district of Lancashire. Offering a wide range of activities including sailing, canoeing and paddle boarding it really is the perfect place to visit if you are looking to try some water sports this summer. The friendly team will provide you with all the equipment and support you will need to enjoy water sports this summer. The Anderton Centre is also home to the Wheelyboat which allows anyone to get out on the water, regardless of their accessibility needs.
But if that's not your thing, it's not just water sports that you can do at The Anderton Centre, you can also try plenty of other land activities including axe throwing, archery and rock climbing.

2. The Flower Bowl Entertainment Centre
Although a sport in the winter Olympics, we can't not mention a trip to The Flower Bowl's curling rink, the only one in the North of England! Open to all ages and abilities, and popular with both professionals and novices alike, The Flower Bowl's curling rink is a fantastic choice if you are looking to try a new sport. The rink is completely wheelchair friendly too so everyone can enjoy a guided session and coaching that's tailored to you.
After you have finished on the curling rink why not try one of the other activities in the centre including adventure golf, bowling or even crazy pool.

If you are serious about golf or just have enjoyed watching it on the Olympics, then why not head to Golf Kingdom Rossendale and see if golfing is for you. 4. Blackpool Tower Circus or Eternity Hot Ice Show
If you have been amazed by some of the gymnastics shown at this year's Olympics and they have left you wanting to see more, then fear not Lancashire has you covered. 6. HAPPA or World Horse Welfare Penny Farm.
If the Equestrian events have got you wanting to try horse riding or if you have always been a horse lover, why not plan a visit to HAPPA or World Horse Welfare Penny Farm this summer. Both award-winning attractions offer opportunities for you to get up close and personal with the horses as you discover more about the animals and take the opportunity to ride them around the beautiful grounds.
7. Fairhaven Lake and gardens
Not only is Fairhaven Lake a great place for a walk or a delicious waterside meal but there's also the opportunity to try some Olympic sports including tennis, bowling and even an 18-hole adventure golf course. With both advance courses and more casual opportunities, there's plenty of options to choose from this summer.
NB – The lake is temporarily closed to visitors and pets due to natural algae blooms. It is advised to check before visiting if you are planning to do any water sports.
8. Junction 4 Urban Sports Village
If you are looking for somewhere to try skateboarding or BMX riding why not head down to Junction 4 urban sports village in Darwen. The UK's number one urban sports facility for BMX, scooter, skateboard, and mountain biking.
9. Local Leisure centres
If you are looking for the option to take up a sport on a more regular basis, why not check out your local leisure centre. Lancashire is home to various leisure centres which offer the facilities for you to try a variety of Olympic sports including badminton, swimming, and tennis. Even better, there's also chances for you to try some of these for free or for a very budget friendly price.
10. Outdoor parks and green spaces
Another budget friendly option for you to try this summer is visiting one of the many outdoor parks and green spaces in Lancashire. With many award-winning parks across the county, Lancashire is the perfect place for you to visit and try something new. From a game of football in the park with your friends, a short run, or a cycle there's plenty of options for you to try which require very little equipment.
