Charlie and The Chocolate Factory – Sunday 1 September at 2.30pm & 7.30pm.
Critically acclaimed ENSEMBLE Theatre will bring the delicious musical Charlie and The Chocolate Factory to The Grand this month. It’s a tastetastical treat for the whole family featuring the unforgettable hit songs from the original movie Candy Man and Pure Imagination, along with stunning new songs from the hit writing team of Hairspray. Afternoon Tea on The Grand Stage – Wednesday 11 September to Friday 13 September at 12noon.
Enjoy an extra special afternoons as part of the theatre’s 130 year celebrations with exclusive Theatre Heritage Tours followed by a delicious Afternoon Tea. Be guided through the magnificent Grand Theatre by our knowledgeable Heritage Guides. Discover fascinating stories, hidden gems and architectural marvels as you learn about the theatre’s vibrant past and its artistic legacy. Then relax and discuss your intriguing findings over a delightful Afternoon Tea set right on the stage, surrounded by the ornate beauty that has enchanted audiences for over a century. Dinner on The Grand Stage – Thursday 12 September & Saturday 14 September at 6pm
Would you like an exclusive dinner date with the stars? A delightful duo of exclusive Gala Dinners will be held on the famous Grand stage to commemorate the theatre’s 130th anniversary, hosted by top theatrical names Jodie Prenger and Steve Royle who will share personal anecdotes, fascinating behind-the-scenes showbiz stories and reveal their deep connection to the theatre. Heritage Open Day – Saturday 14 September from 10am to 2pm. FREE Guided Tours at 10am, 11am &12noon.
Have you always wanted a peek inside Blackpool’s hidden gem? Blackpool Grand Theatre will be throwing open its famous doors for one day only as part of the national Heritage Open Day Blackpool project! Pop in anytime from 10am to 2pm on the day to roam the famous theatre tiers and experience the captivating wonders of the glorious Grade II* listed building, which was meticulously crafted in 1894 by flamboyant architect Frank Matcham.
The Grand will also be offering FREE 30-minute guided tours at 10am, 11am and 12pm on the day, which must be booked in advance. Refreshments are available in the Stalls Bar 10am to 2pm.
Toadfish on Tour – Sunday 15 September at 7.30pm
Toadie from Neighbours is jumping back into the spotlight with his exclusive solo tour Toad on the Road - An Evening with Neighbours’ Ryan Mahoney! Ryan joined the cast of top Australian soap Neighbours as Toadfish Rebecchi in 1995 and has been right at the heart of some of its biggest stories ever since across the last 28 years - from multiple weddings, a huge extended family, a controversial baby lie, the full monty, wrestling and more. Now audiences get to reminisce alongside Ryan as he looks back across all of Toadie’s biggest stories, reveals never before heard behind the scenes secrets, and shares his vision for some of the plots he always wanted the lovable lawyer to be involved in. Buffy Revamped – Friday 20 September at 7.30pm
Take a delicious bite out of this fast-paced gem that brings you the entire 144 episodes of the hit 90s TV show Buffy the Vampire Slayer as told through the eyes of the one person who knows it inside out… Spike. Funny, satirical and bursting with 90s pop-culture references, it’s the perfect parody for Buffy aficionados and those who never enrolled at Sunnydale High alike. Created by comedian Brendan Murphy whose last show, FRIEND (The One with Gunther), won Best Play at the Worldwide Comedy Awards. Tickets from 20.50. Recommended for ages 14+.
Black Is The Color of My Voice – Saturday 21 September at 7.30pm
Apphia Campbell’s acclaimed play is inspired by the life of the incredible Nina Simone and
follows the legendary singer and civil rights activist as she seeks redemption after the untimely death of her father. She reflects on the journey that took her from a young piano prodigy destined for a life in the service of the church, to a renowned jazz vocalist at the forefront of the Civil Rights Movement. This ‘compelling and heartbreaking’ story also features many of her most iconic songs all performed live by Nicholle Cherrie. All tickets £25. Recommended for ages 12+ (references to violence and racism).
Blackpool Symphony Orchestra – Sunday 22 September at 7.30pm
Mix with the top brass as Blackpool Symphony Orchestra makes a welcome return for a blockbusting Last Night of the Proms concert. Featuring everyone’s favourite Proms classics including Jerusalem, Rule Britannia and Land of Hope and Glory, plus a varied programme of music for the whole family to enjoy. BSO will also joined by international opera star Jane Irwin who will be performing a selection of operatic and musical theatre highlights. All tickets £21. Under 18s £11.50. Recommended for ages 10+
Shecter II – From England With Love – Tuesday 24 September & Wednesday 25 September at 7.30pm.
The jaw-dropping Hofesh Schecter Company return with this compelling new dance work from Shechter II – the next generation of world-class emerging artists from across globe. From England with Love is an ode to this intricate and beautiful country and its multi-layered complexity. Through Shechter’s powerful choreography, the dancers evoke the paradox at the heart of this generous and soul–searching place, conflicted by its dark history and powerful attachment to old traditions. This playful and poignant piece has been described as ‘a peek into the heart and soul of this beautiful, yet complicated place’ and is performed to a rich score that combines the sounds of English composers in a clash with raging rock and electronics. Nathan Carter – Friday 27 September at 7.30pm.
The sensational Music Man brings his brand new UK tour for 2024 as he releases his brand new album. ‘Ireland’s No 1 entertainer’ has outsold the likes of Beyonce in Ireland, performed for the Pope, sold out venues across the world; and is one of the most prolific touring artists in the UK. Ben Portsmouth - This Is Elvis – Sunday 29 September at 7.30pm.
Elvis is IN the building as the one and only Ben Portsmouth returns with his jaw-dropping tribute to the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll! Ben broke records to become the first European to be crowned by Elvis Presley Enterprises as the ‘Worldwide Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist’ in Memphis, which swiftly followed with an invite to headline a special Elvis week on the Late Show with David Letterman.
Ben and the Taking Care of Elvis Band will take you on a trip down memory lane with many of Elvis’ most loved songs from all eras including the 1950s, the iconic ’68 Comeback Special, and Ben’s personal favourite, the 1970s Vegas concerts, all in celebration of the life of an iconic showman. Herman’s Hermits – Monday 30 September at 7.30pm.
Something tells us everyone will love spending the evening with this hugely popular touring band, who thrill audiences worldwide with their unique sound and warm humour. Formed in Manchester in 1964, Herman’s Hermits were very much part of the teenage revolution taking place in Modern Britain during the sensational 60s.
