1st September – The British Country Music Festival
The final day of the British Country Music Festival (TBCMF) an indoor three-day event flying the flag for homegrown, singer-songwriters.
Promoters Fit The Bill Limited launched the event in 2019 with the objective to promote grass-roots artists from the UK working towards providing a main stage platform for them to take their rightful place alongside their American counterparts. The festival website also promotes how English, Irish and Celtic travellers influenced country music when they went to America and settled in the Appalachian Mountains.
This festival celebrates the continuum of country music, how it has evolved and continues to change, with input from both the UK and America.
3rd – 7th September – Blood Brothers
Written by Willy Russell, the legendary BLOOD BROTHERS tells the captivating and moving tale of twins who, separated at birth, grow up on opposite sides of the tracks, only to meet again with fateful consequences.
When Mrs Johnstone, a young mother, is deserted by her husband and left to her own devices to provide for seven hungry children she takes a job as a housekeeper in order to make ends meet. It is not long before her brittle world crashes around her when she discovers herself to be pregnant yet again - this time with twins! In a moment of weakness and desperation, she enters a secret pact with her employer which leads inexorably to the show's shattering climax.
Few musicals have received quite such acclaim as the multi-award-winning BLOOD BROTHERS. Bill Kenwright Ltd’s production surpassed 10,000 performances in London’s West End, one of only three musicals ever to achieve that milestone.
The run will see Vivienne Carlyle returning to the iconic role of Mrs. Johnstone, having received nightly standing ovations for her powerful and poignant performance in the West End production.
Sean Jones and Joe Sleight return to the production as twins Mickey and Eddie, with Gemma Brodrick reprising the role of Linda.
