If you are looking for the perfect place to see the magic of autumn, as the leaves change colour, then head to the breath-taking Ribble Valley. Here, nestled on the edge of the Forest of Bowland National Landscape, you’ll find the Shireburn Arms Hotel, the perfect place to relax and explore the local area, including the infamous Tolkien Trail walking route.

The Tolkien Trail is 7km long and takes in the beauty of the Ribble Valley and Stonyhurst College. Light up Lancaster takes place over a full weekend in November and showcases a range of fantastic light installations and art pieces, some of which are completely unique to the Lancaster display and speak of the heritage of the area.
