Litfest Lancaster's Autumn 'Extra Long' Weekend begins on Friday 18 Oct - and it’ll be all treats and no tricks!
Anne of Green Gables said, ‘I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers,’ and so are we when it comes to the Litfest Autumn Extra-Long Weekend this October – a treat of literature, poetry, talks and discussions.
You can revisit your childhood in a fun retelling of Anne of Green Gables by Katherine Woodfine; discover the new societies that emerged after the turbulence of the English Civil War with Jonathan Healey; and explore The Notebooks of Humphry Davy – chemist, inventor of the Davy Lamp, and poet – with Sharon Ruston.
You’ll be Slowing Down to the Speed of Light with Jacqueline Harris as she talks about her ADHD diagnosis, visiting The Company of Owls with Polly Atkin, and exploring The Three Lives of St Ciarán with Inés Gregori Labarta. Guadalupe Nettel will be joining the Lancaster International Fiction Lecture and the International Fiction Book Club, whilst of course, Litfest will have some very special poetry events for you including a double bill with Camille Ralphs and Ian Seed, plus the shortlist reading of the Poetry Pamphlet Competition.
Plus there’s a very special event on 25 October as legendary record producer Joe Boyd talks about the history of global music in And the Roots of Rhythm Remain – a partnership event with Lancaster Arts.
Almost all events take place both in-person and live online and tickets are just £3/£5 and can be purchased from The Dukes – apart from the Joe Boyd event which costs £16 and is bookable via Lancaster Arts.
