Head to Samlesbury Hall this weekend as they reveal the stories of their 13 ghosts with the 'Samlesbury Hall Ghost Trail'. Between 21st and 31st October, five of Samlesbury Hall's haunted chambers will feature illustrated stories of their 13 ghostly residents, all of which are friendly!

Storytelling & games with your favourite Witches and Wizards
Fishergate Shopping Centre

Calling all aspiring witches and wizards, head to Fishergate Shopping Centre this Saturday for a Magical Day as you embark on an enchanting adventure. Immerse yourself in a world of storytelling, games, and spell-binding activities. Test your skills with interactive games and challenges inspired by the legendary Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Darwen's Monthly Artisan Market returns this weekend on the vibrant Darwen Market Square.  Immerse yourself in the charm of this lively town and experience a delightful event that celebrates local creativity and craftsmanship.From handcrafted ceramics and textiles to mouthwatering artisanal foods, every item at the market tells a unique story of talent and passion.

Tour: Hauntings, Hangings & Horrid Happenings

Join an award winning evening tour, exploring the sinister side of Lancaster's past, with tales of the macabre and the monstrous. These tours, conducted by an Institute of Tourist Guiding Blue Badge Guide, depart from Lancaster Castle's main entrance, the John O'Gaunt Gatehouse, and last around 90 minutes to two hours, depending on the size of the group and the questions asked.

Due to the nature of some of the stories told, it is recommended that children under 16 years of age do not attend these tours. 

Explore Week
The Storey

Explore Week is new for Light Up Lancaster 2024 and continues this weekend with free activities, family friendly engagement and lots of fun and exciting sessions. Explore will have a comprehensive schedule of lively, hands-on activities.  During Explore Week, visitors can send a letter to space, experiment with science and gadgets and discover what might have the potential to provide low-cost solar electricity in the future.  

Halloween

That’s not all there’s also a full range of exciting Halloween events taking place this weekend including Pumpkin picking, scare parks and ghost tours.
