This weekend we had the fortune to head along to The Dukes Theatre in Lancaster to watch their very own production of the classic tale The Borrowers.
As Lancashire’s only producing theatres, The Dukes wow their guests with a new play each Christmas, in addition to the award-winning Play in the Park each summer. This year sees the lives of the Clock Family and Eddie change forever in a story that will capture your heart.
Alongside toe-tapping songs and genius set-design, the characters find themselves in life altering situations, and the audience is guided through it all by Eddie himself.
Two Eddies take to the stage, Eddie as an old man returning to Lancaster many years after the story is set and speaking directly to the audience, and Eddie as a ten year old boy, who loves comic books and makes a life-long friend in Arrietty Clock, the daughter of Pod and Homily Clock – the family of borrowers who live under the floorboards of Eddie’s Aunt and Uncles new home in Lancaster.
With plenty of audience participation, including the chance to join in with the songs, fun set design, dancing and a brilliant story, The Borrowers is an ideal trip to the theatre for the whole family this Christmas.
We had so much fun watching the show, and The Dukes lobby really gets you in the mood with giant sweets, crayons and more decorated throughout so you feel like a Borrower yourself as soon as you step though the door.
The Borrowers runs throughout the Christmas period, with showings from Monday to Saturday each week until the 31st December. Grab your tickets today and add this to your Christmas itinerary!
