There is nothing better than getting some fresh air and exploring the beautiful sights of Lancashire, however when it comes to choosing a pram-friendly walking route, it isn’t always easy.
That’s why we’ve pulled together this handy list of Lancashire’s best pram-friendly walking routes, with flat well surfaced paths, perfect for pushchairs and wheelchairs alike.

Brockholes Nature Reserve is home to a wonderful variety of wildlife, enjoy spotting birds, mammals and insects throughout the year in the different habitats provided by this once disused quarry. You’ll find several pram-friendly walking routes, including the Gravel Pit trail, that will lead you from the iconic floating visitor centre to the popular wooden adventure playground. As well as accessible viewpoints scattered around the reserve to get closer to nature.

Mere Sands is a beautiful nature reserve and wildlife haven located in Rufford, Lancashire. Home to a new visitor centre, café and several peaceful water side bird hides, Mere Sands is the perfect pram-friendly walking destination. With 95% of the paths being suitable for both prams and wheelchairs, it offers many different walking routes for you to choose from.

Leighton Moss boasts the largest reed bed in North-West England and is home to a wide range of spectacular wildlife including; otters, bearded tits, marsh harriers, egrets and red deer!
See it for yourself at one of the nature reserves various accessible trails and hides or try feeding the birds at the bird feeding station. The viewing points even have lower windows, offering maximum viewing opportunities for the little ones.

Witton park covers 480 acres of beautiful countryside and many different walking routes including a circle route, ideal for prams. Although there are a few bridges to take, there are both flat routes and hilled woodland routes for you to choose from with ramps located around the park. Whilst you are there why not check out the duck pond, café, and playground?
Ormerod Road, Burnley, Lancashire, BB11 3WQ
Thompson Park is located close to the centre of Burnley and is a popular and beautiful Edwardian park. This small but pram friendly park has recently been restored and is home to ducks to feed, a railway to explore and several benches for you to rest at.
If you are looking for a longer walk, you can walk across to Queen’s Park – Burnley’s first public park, home to a sensory garden and a café.

A beauty and wildlife sanctuary rich in industrial archaeology, Healey Dell is a wonderful place to walk with lots of different length walking routes suitable for pushchairs. You’ll find multiple places to park around the reserve as well as a small playground to keep the kids entertained.
Astley Hall, Coach House and Park
Astley Hall, Chorley, PR7 1XA
A beautiful tourist spot located next to Chorley town centre offering families and friends a great day out. Inside the park you’ll find pram friendly walks around walled gardens, grassy fields and the breath-taking Grade-1 listed Astley Hall, there is also a café and large playground for children.

Within 650 acres of woodland, parkland and agricultural land you’ll find ten mils of paths, many accessible and suitable for prams and wheelchairs. Sightings of roe deer, woodpeckers, kingfishers and dragonflies are reported regularly.
