Planning days out and family breaks when you’ve got older children to keep happy can be one of the biggest challenges for families during the summer holidays. Luckily, here in Lancashire we’ve got everything you could possibly need, ranging from fun packed theme parks and hands-on museums to fascinating nature reserves and long sandy beaches.
Teenagers might be notoriously hard to please, but there are few who couldn’t be tempted to ride the UK’s first double launch rollercoaster ICON, the UK’s tallest rollercoaster The Big One or the UK’s first suspended looped coaster completely over water Infusion, at the award winning Blackpool Pleasure Beach. The perfect day out for thrill seekers.
Looking for ways to wear them out? Look no further than some of Lancashire’s top adventure attractions.
From monkeying around in the forest at Go Ape where the family can test their nerve by completing the Tree Top Adventure, to Ski Rossendale where you can hone your skills before hitting the piste!
The Lee and Cragg disused quarries in the Rossendale Valley have been transformed into a paradise for mountain bikers and have a network of red and black graded cross-country trails. Or head indoors to Grip and Go, an action-packed climbing centre for the whole family, and whilst there why not try District A Laser Tag, where you can work together to eliminate your opponents.
Level at Preston’s Guild Hall is a teenager’s dream and will keep them busy for hours if not days activities include Laser Tag, Crazy Golf, Ten Pin Bowling, Darts to the Daredevil Assault Course.
For something a little less energetic but equally as fun, a visit to Blackpool’s Madame Tussauds is a must. Teens can get up close to their celebrity icons and new for this year Marvel Super Heroes!
