Al fresco dining is usually associated with sunny climates, but as we emerge into a post pandemic world - through necessity or simply because you feel safer outside, al fresco dining is here to stay.
So check out a handful of restaurants in Lancashire who are due to open from 12th April that offer outdoor dining:
Fitzy’s Al Fresco – Simonstone,Burnley
'Fitzys Al Fresco' is a new venture created by Higher Trapp House where you'll dine under a marquee in their beautiful gardens. Don't worry, as the British weather can be ‘mixed’, there are also electric heaters and fleece blankets available to keep everyone warm and snug - we'd also advise to bring an extra layer!
Dine under the ‘Teepee’ at the Golden Ball of Longton, with heaters and blankets on hand, you'll be cosy even when the sun goes down. The team even have dog beds available - there is a reason why they won our most recent Dog Friendly Business of the Year award!
Dine outdoors at The Borough, set within Lancaster's historic Dalton Square you can take in the local surroundings and learn all about the history. The team offer every COVID-secure method such as contactless payment, table service and screens. Despite having heaters and blankets available, they do remind customers that ‘We are still in the lovely North so please do dress accordingly’ - dually noted!
This family-run hotel has recently installed a new canopy to shield against any wind or any potential April showers. You can enjoy great views of the coast whilst you tuck into some delicious fish 'n' chips - they also have vegetarian option too!
Cartford Inn - Little Eccleston
It's the Telegraph Pub of the Year! Their outdoor greenhouses made the news last summer for being so unique and inventive. Situated on the River Wyre, bask in the beauty of the Lancashire countryside whilst enjoying some of the best food and drink in the region.
Set in a picture perfect setting overlooking the Leeds/Liverpool canal, Saracens Head have installed a large marquee to be able to offer outdoor dining. Don't worry, it has a clear roof so you won't miss out on the sunset views. You can book for food in 90 minute slots, and if you fancy a quick tipple whilst out - it's on a first come first served basis.
The team have been busy to ensure they are COVID safe to start welcoming back customers old and new. From one-way systems, table service and card payments only to keep everyone safe. There will be no need for blankets if you book the fire pit table!
Gibbon Bridge Hotel - Chipping
Taking al fresco dining to a whole new level, whatever the weather, you will be warm and cosy in these purpose-built covered and heated huts. Nestled in the Forest of Bowland, sit back, take in the view, enjoy a delicious meal and sip your favourite tipple – does it get any better?
The Rabbit Hole at 1842 is now taking bookings for eating and drinking outside. Try their small plate menu, delicious brunches or sample your favourite from their new cocktail menu. Booking is advised and all tables are covered but it is recommended to #BringYourOwnBlanket
